Child Guidance & Family Solutions Child Guidance & Family Solutions (CG&FS) was created after Akron Child Guidance integrated with Family Solutions to combine their rich histories of helping people in our community – Akron Child Guidance since 1939 and Family Solutions since 1922. Their mission is weaving together the fabric of family through counseling, educating & supporting, connecting people with resources, and cooperating with community agencies & schools. CG&FS interacts with children and their parents, other adults and the community to strengthen this fabric. Services are wrapped around the child and family, and include: education in mental health, psychological and psychosocial assessment and treatment for children, intensive case management for children, marriage, alcohol/drug and divorce counseling, mental health and academic day treatment for youth. Community Health Center Community Health Center (CHC) has been treating addictive and compulsive disorders in the community since 1974. The agency is the premier provider of quality treatment services for drug and alcohol abuse and offers programs for ages 13 and older. CHC’s continuum of care includes residential treatment, medication-assisted treatment for opiate addictions, intensive outpatient programs for adults and adolescents, a women’s recovery program and various types of individual and group therapy sessions. Community Support Services Since August 1988, Community Support Services has provided comprehensive rehabilitative services to adults with severe and persistent mental illnesses. Services are guided by an individualized treatment plan developed in collaboration with the person served. Specific service areas have been developed to assist persons served in meeting established goals. Available services include psychiatric services, community psychiatric support treatment (CPST), employment/vocational services, intensive treatment services (ITS), primary care services, and residential services. Portage Path Behavioral Health The name Portage Path Behavioral Health has been synonymous with quality outpatient and emergency mental health services for over 40 years. Outpatient services include counseling, psychiatry, psychology, group programs, medication management, and day treatment. Walk-in appointments are also offered.
