Balancing Infection Control and Patient Safety with the new GOJO® LTX™ Behavioral Health Dispensing System

Appropriate infection control practices are critical in any type of healthcare environment in order to keep staff and patients healthy and safe. Implementing infection control practices as close to the point of care as possible is rarely an easy task, and this is especially true in mental and behavioral healthcare facilities. Concerns such as vandalism, tampering, ingestion, self-harm through hanging or strangulation, and weaponization via breakage, among others, are all potential issues that need to be addressed in various areas throughout a behavioral health hospital and/or substance abuse rehab facility. The GOJO® LTX™ Behavioral Health Dispensing System is a world-first hand hygiene dispensing system based on the LTX™ touch-free platform that mitigates these risks as much as possible while maintaining a form, fit and function that prioritizes infection control in these types of environments.

The LTX™ Behavioral Health Dispensing System provides a wall-mounted hand hygiene dispensing system that is secure and designed in such a way that patients and/or inmates cannot use the installed fixture as a means to harm themselves or others.

Unique features of the LTX™ Behavioral Health Dispensing System include the following:

  • Designed in accordance with the Veterans Health Administration Environment of Care Checklist
  • Tested in accordance with New York State Office of Mental Health safety protocols
  • Supports compliance with the following:
  • The Joint Commission's National Patient Safety Goal 15 (Requirement 15A)
  • Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services Condition of Participation: Physical Environment
  • Anti-ligature and non-loopable design to reduce potential for intentional ingestion by patients
  • ADA compliant cabinet design
  • Epoxy-coated stainless steel construction to prevent vandalism and breakage

Lockable barrel key system to prevent unauthorized access to dispenser and refill

Uses standard LTX™ PURELL®, PROVON® and GOJO® refills to facilitate ease of refill consolidation for end users using plastic LTX™ dispensers in non-critical areas

To facilitate placement of dispensers where they are needed for comprehensive infection control, the LTX™ Behavioral Health Dispensing System is designed in such a way that facility staff can feel comfortable placing the dispenser in areas that may not be continually monitored by staff or location that are not within short range of a staffed nursing or guard station.

Prism Expands throughout Indiana and Ohio Thursday, March 10, 2016

Prism Receives Endorsement from Indiana Council

Prism Health System has worked successfully with local and national companies to help find the best cost savings programs for member organizations. Over the past several years, Prism has helped member organizations save more than $2,000,000. The Prism Strategic Plan for 2016 is to expand services throughout the State of Ohio and Indiana in hopes of surpassing the $3M savings mark by the end of 2016. Terry Dalton, CEO of Community Support Services in Akron, Ohio states, "The organizations that show the most savings are those organizations where the program is top down driven. Without the direct involvement of the CEO or CFO, staff employees show a tendency to go back to doing business as usual - thus not maximizing the savings potential of the Prism Programs."

Prism Launches Health Insurance Program in 2016 Thursday, March 10, 2016

Prism Health System helps non-profits manage insurance costs through Group Plans

Prism Health System completed a rigorous vetting process for the development of a long-term health insurance program; beginning with a field of 16 insurance vendors and brokers. The initial phase of the selection process began with an in-depth Request for Information; followed by months of interviews and corporate presentations. With the assistance of a Health Insurance Executive Consultant, Prism narrowed this extensive field down to the final five organizations, before selecting the " Prism Preferred Partner."  New members to the Prism Health Insurance Program will enjoy guaranteed pricing through 2017.
